Tattoo Removal in Ottawa

We all get tattoos knowing they’re permanent but we don’t necessarily understand the impact of forever. Next thing you know, the regret sinks in and we realize that our basement buddy wasn’t the highly skilled artist we once thought he was, or that relationship we thought was the one? Really wasn’t.

Laser tattoo removal has become the standard treatment for tattoo removal because it offers an effective, safe and fast solution for removing unwanted tattoos. At Inovo Medical, we use state-of-the-art technology, Fotona’s StarWalker MaQX system, to fully remove your tattoos safely.

Why is the QX Max laser perfect for laser tattoo removal?

This treatment treats all pigmented lesions, including melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. The device is precise, gentle, requires no anesthesia (as we use a topical anesthetic to aid in comfort), and is minimally invasive. Additionally, it can remove permanent makeup and eyebrow tattoos such as micro blading, nano blading and more. The QX Max laser is the only laser that treats all tattoo colors and is safe on all skin colors!

Fotona’s StarWalker laser is the only tattoo removal laser combining 4 wavelengths. Each wavelength is specific to a group of color. Therefore, we have the only laser that can treat all colors!

  • 1064 nm Nd:YAG for dark pigments,
  • 532 nm KTP for red, tan, purple and orange inks,
  • 650 nm for green inks,
  • 585 nm for sky blue inks.

How does laser tattoo removal work?

The laser uses short and strong laser pulses that penetrate deep into the skin, without injuring the top layers. The pulses are then absorbed by the pigment in the ink. As the laser light is transformed into photoacoustic waves, it mechanically breaks up the ink into smaller particles that are naturally absorbed by the body’s own immune system, slowly removing the ink from the area.

Depending on the size, location, depth and color, it may require multiple treatments to achieve the full result. The tattoo will slowly fade between treatments as the body removes the remainders of the tattoo pigment.

Why choose the QX MAX instead of other laser tattoo removal options?

To answer this question, let’s have a further look into the process of removing the ink. First, we zap the tattoo once with the specific laser wavelength. The pigment inside of your dermis will be shaken by the vibration caused by trillions of laser impulsions per second. This vibration with minimal heat injury will destroy the pigment and gas will escape from its chemical degradation. That gas will make the tattoo or the pigment look frosty.

With other PICO Laser Tattoo Removal options, once the frosty color has set in, the laser cannot be reapplied since the white does not attract the laser.

This is where the QX Max stands superior to its competitors.

We use the StarWalker’s FracTAT mode to create microscopic holes that release the frosty gas. These holes allow us to complete a second round of ink removal within the same session. This reduces the number of sessions needed to complete the tattoo removal in half compared to any other laser on the market, for the same price.

What about downtime and side effects?

The StarWalker laser beam has been developed in accordance with the highest standards, parts, materials and technological support available. Compared to cheaper lasers, the different technological characteristics of the laser –  energy, frequency, shape of the beam, etc. –  are controlled and monitored by the system for any deviation and would turn off for service if found. This significantly reduces the risk of side effects such as scarring, burns, hyperpigmentation, and downtime. Nonetheless, different body and skin types may react differently to treatments.

Here at Inovo Medical clinic we always have your best interests at heart which is why choosing a great provider is key to achieving your optimal results. We adhere to the highest medical standards and our team of physicians and technicians will always tailor your treatment according to your own personal needs.

Below you will see the difference beam profile between a standard laser and the Fotona QX Max:

The StarWalker laser at Inovo Medical is the safest option but, as with any medical treatments, you may experience minor side effect and require downtime:

  • Swelling, redness and minimal amounts of translucent liquid in the treated area can last from 3-10 days. Note: any yellow and green pus is a sign of infection and you should consult your physician for guidance.
  • Although completely faded, previous scarring (from the tattoo needle) can remain present in the treated area..
  • Because a complete tattoo removal can be challenging to achieve, a slight faded background of the tattoo could still be visible after the removal.
