Your Journey with InstaLift
As with all of our treatments, you must first schedule a consultation with a member of our highly qualified staff. Our cosmetic treatments are always 100% personalised. It’s important to be open and honest about your expectations for treatment as this will help Dr. Belanger tailor the treatment to meet your unique needs.
During your consultation we’ll work together to set realistic expectations pertaining to your concerns, skin state, relevant medical history, and price estimates. If we decide to move forward, our medical assistant will take some photos of you from various angles. These photos serve as a baseline so that you can review your treatment progress. Then, we will discuss pre and post care instructions, consent and deposit.
To decrease the risk of bruising, we advise you to avoid taking aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Advil and/or blood thinning medication 2-3 days before your treatment.
Day of Treatment
On the day of the treatment, you will get a topical anaesthetic on your face. Dr. Belanger will draw little dots on your skin (where the insertion points will be). Everything will be done in a sterile environment. Once the sutures have been inserted, Dr. Belanger will position them under your skin – at the optimal depth – where they are not visible to achieve the lift you want. The procedure usually takes less than an hour, depending on the number of threads you need.

How long will it last?
Results are immediate, and you will notice a youthful-looking appearance that continues to improve over 6 months following treatment with long-term results lasting up to 2 years.
Who is a good candidate?
As with all treatments, make sure to ask Dr. Belanger if InstaLift is right for you. InstaLift is most often recommended for men and women seeking a rejuvenated, yet natural-looking appearance, as well as experiencing a loss of elasticity/sagging skin and loss of volume in the mid-face. They look in the mirror and lift their cheeks, wishing they could revert to where they once were and envision the youthful appearance they once had.
These men and women are looking for an immediate lift while adding volume over time. In fact, they may have previously received cosmetic injectables. However, they don’t feel ready for surgery. While they have good skin quality, they also notice their nasolabial folds and/or sagging in their cheeks.
Who wouldn't be considered a good candidate for InstaLift?
You may not qualify if you have:
- Moderate to severe sagging skin and expecting a complete solution from the treatment.
- Excessive fat under the skin. For example, if the doctor identifies an excess of fat below the chin during a consultation on someone who would like to improve under the chin.
- An active infection, a recent surgery in the area, a known allergy to the product, or other reactions.
- Your face is thin, has very soft tissues which may cause the implants to be visible
What should I do following the procedure?
- Apply cold packs immediately after if required. Cold packs should be wrapped to avoid direct contact with skin and insertion point.
- Acetaminophen may be taken for pain.
- Makeup may be gently applied after a minimum of 24 hours.
- Sleep face-up, in an elevated position on pillows for 3-5 nights.
- Do not rub face aggressively when washing, shaving and drying face for 5 days. Be gentle.
- Avoid excessive face and neck movements for 2 weeks.
- Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and UV light for 2 weeks.
- Avoid participating in high impact sports (e.g. running) for 2 weeks.
- Do not use saunas for 3 weeks.
- Avoid dental surgery for 3 weeks
- Avoid facials or face-down massages and facial aesthetic treatments for 4 weeks.
What are Silhouette InstaLift® sutures made of?
Silhouette InstaLift® is made from a well-known polymerPolyglycolide/L-lactide) that is frequently used in medical devices and is well tolerated by the body.
Is the procedure safe?
Silhouette InstaLift® is the only FDA-cleared dual-action device for cosmetic rejuvenation. It is made from well-known polymer that is frequently used in medical devices and is well tolerated by the body.
How does it compare with surgery and Ultherapy?
While surgery will achieve a more dramatic result, it comes with lengthy downtime, a serious risks of infection, scarring and damage to nerves and other tissues. Additionally, it is significantly more expensive. However, while effective, a surgical face lift does not improve the quality of your skin by increasing collagen. By contrast, Ultherapy and InstaLift will.
While threads only improve collagen and volume locally, Ultherapy will create the lift in your skin by stimulating your own collagen and elastin production. This will improve your skins quality and underlying tissues. While Ultherapy will not lift drastically compared to surgery or threads, it is still considered the only other medical device approved for non-surgical face lift.
If you do have moderate to severe sagging and are hoping to attain a near-perfect solution, then you should opt for a surgical face lift.
What about a mini face lift?
A mini face lift requires local or general anaesthesia and will usually create more lift for a duration of approximately 4-7 years. The cost will be around 6000 to 10 000 $ in Canada. It does not include the neck nor the brows.
What about a regular face and neck lift?
A major surgical face and neck lift will require general anaesthesia, and will cost between 15 000 to 30 000$ depending on its extent, techniques and the surgeon’s reputation. It will last 8-15 years.
